Tianhua Institute Helps Localization of Core Equipment of Large-scale Natural Gas Hydrogen Plant

Recently, the 100,000Nm3/h steam generator (waste heat boiler) designed and supplied by Tianhua Institute for Sinopec Tianjin Company has been installed on the site, and the complete hydrogen generation unit has been completed and delivered according to the interim construction plan.

It is a single set of large-scale hydrogen production unit with domestic technology (process package) and solely designed by domestic design institute. Specifically, the conversion gas steam generator is one of the important key equipment for recovering heat energy, saving energy and reducing consumption. Tianhua Institute is responsible for its technical research for domestication 

At the beginning of the start of the project of Sinopec Tianjin Branch, leaders of Tianhua Institute attached great importance to the project and actively promoted the localization work of the major key equipment of the conversion gas steam generator, organized a special waste heat boiler working group to carry out scheme design and technical research, and successfully signed the major localization project in the subsequent fierce international bidding competitions, and signed the design and supply contract on May 9, 2019.

Go where there is an order. In order to meet the requirements on the tight schedule of users, and fulfil the design task on time and with quality and quantity guaranteed, the departments of Tianhua Institute related to design, procurement and manufacturing cooperated efficiently with each other, the manufacturing shops operated at full capacity, and all parties involved operate on the principles of solidarity and coordination. The design institute of the project and Tianjin Company coordinated actively with each other, convened the kick-off meeting on June 12 to determine major plans and technological plans. Tianhua Institute completed the design of the construction drawings and delivered them for production on July 10. The employees of the production base of Tianhua Institute were always on standby, faced the difficulties without fear, and worked day and night, shortening the manufacturing cycle from eight months to six months. On January 9, 2020, the project passed the acceptance inspection of Sinopec Materials & Equipment Department, Sinopec Tianjin Company, Sinopec Luoyang Engineering Co., Ltd., and Hefei Tong’an Engineering Machinery and Equipment Supervision Company. On March 16, in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, the project team of the Tianhua Institute managed to deliver the equipment to the user in an orderly way, fully demonstrating its high ability to cooperate efficiently, spirit of struggle and strict disciplines and style of work.

The successful delivery of the equipment will further advance the domestication of complete set of hydrogen production unit, develop a complete set of heat recovery equipment and technologies that take thin tube-sheet steam generator at the core and have independent intellectual property rights, making important contributions to energy saving, consumption reduction and emission reduction. The equipment has a broad market prospect and is of great significance to the development of China’s hydrogen production industry and hydrogen energy security of the country.
